What is the best Anti-virus to Protect my laptop from Trojans

Yo. I've got AVG Free edition works fine for me I prefer it over mcafee and Norton and its really easy to use, I could go to so many porn sites and not get any viruses at all, I also have Spybot, and Adaware protecting my system but still...
and i downloaded this NOD32 program I will give it a try...

I know this isn't directed at me but I'll answer it anyway.

Referring to my original post in this topic, "safe surfers" don't visit adult or crackz sites, don't use file sharing programs and generally use common sense where unsolicited mail is concerned. Due to this they rarely put themselves at risk.

Since registering on this site in April 2005 you've accumulated nearly 9000 posts on this forum Brookfield. I think it's a safe bet to presume you spend a large amount of your time here yes? You're not likely to pick many infections up here are you? AVG is perfect for this type of safe surfing. Basically, a glass house is fine if the locals haven't worked out how to throw stones yet. :D
Thanks again John, you are soooo right, I'm online to CF from around 8.30am BST til 10pm, most days.

I wont take your word for it lol, ive been working with PCs for a hell of a lot longer than you. How about you taking my word that NOD32 is better than AVG.

You do definitely know your stuff when it comes to PCs. You do a lot of research and gathering especially in this matter.

EDIT 2: I think it highly unprofessional and uncalled for of you as a moderator to dismiss DJ-CHRIS's opinion as "rubbish" when I have seen, even in a short time, his ability with computers far outshines yours. I will also say that I am a professional in the industry and DJ-CHRIS has posted a couple of things I did not actually know. The key word here is "professional", you might like to try that as that has been somewhat lacking from some of your posts I have read here. You are coming across as a total idiot and your asinine comments and attitude to others, well I just dare you to try that in real life as opposed to hiding behind your screen and keyboard.

You're right. DJ-CHRIS knows his stuff very well, especially networks and things like that. I believe he works with security software on a daily basis and has a lot of knowledge and experience with this stuff.

There's a reason AVG is free. Do you think an AV company would give out their best product for free? AVG is an alright free program but I'm not sure if it's really as good as it should be. There are virtually no options for the resident shield except to scan all files, there's no detail on the resident protection which to me doesn't give me a good feeling and makes me question if it's working.

Yes, AVG is a good program because it's free but it's not for users who do a lot of activity and who need an AV that will take anything you throw at it, I say go with kaspersky, NOD32, or even Avast home edition which is a good free one. I'll admit I like AVG for the fact it's a small download and it's free, if you're not doing much of anything on your computer it's alright but I would still run tests with online scanners. Heck, NOD32 now has an online scanner you can use for free and that will take care of any issues you have. I just don't feel very safe using AVG since it doesn't really give any detail of what it's doing unless you run a scan, I like to know what's going on with the shields like NOD32, Kaspersky, Avast etc. It lets me know the program is scanning things as I go and that it's actually doing something besides sitting there and using my RAM.

Just Downlaod Every Freaking Anti-virus Spyware Software Ever Made
NOT a good idea at all, some would cancel each other out, probably leaving you worse off than before, the result being >>

ok.
the best one i use is zonealarm now that covers everything but you have to pay 40 pounds but it is worth it is has virus scanner and anti virus parental control im user activity.
And you can password protect.

If you happy to use AVG then may I suggest using something like Peer Guardian with it as it has a good pop up blocker and web filtering and again it is free a must for p2p users, you must of course ask yourself what you wanting to do with your computer if your just web browsing and using your email client then AVG would be sufficient or Nod32 with windows own firewall but I WOULD NEVER USE WINDOWS OWN, absolute crap in my opinion, if your looking for the complete solution AV and Firewall then go for Kaspersky INTERNET security 7 its fantastic, i will never change now unless Eset get there security suit running bug free but that is still in its infancy at the moment so I will wait.
