Posting is really slow

Navagation around the site has been speedy the last couple of days, but when I just made a new thread, it took maybe about 4 minutes to finally go through and post it. Don't know if anything could be done to speed up posting because if it continues to take so long not many people are going to post anything.

edit: the quick reply seems to be working good, but posting a new thread is what is slow.

Yeah, I've noticed replying sometimes takes a while but browsing throughout the site is really fast.

David you might want to consider blocking access by the search bots for a couple of days to see if that may be the problem with slow downs. If you correlate the time it slows down to the time users are getting home and getting online, it could be that the searches invoked are flooding the forum system. Our set up shows up the search bots. Where they are in the forum and where they come from. Like yahoo slurpbots and google. And from time to time inktome and msn bots. But due to the fact you're near the top of a lot of search engines you have to figure the search bots are pounding away at the forum on a regular basis.

thats very true.i got some slowness tonight two at around 2:00am eastern time
