Okay I was wondering if you people could answer my question here. In the future if I buy a service packfor Vista , is it like a patch and I have to buy the original copy or is it fine if I just buy the Service Pack and install it? Thank you.

Normally, the service pack releases are free. All you'll need to do is download and install it. Simple and easy. :D

I think hes confused by things marketed like "XP Service Pack 2 OEM CD"

This just means that the service pack is included on the operating system, and you do not need to download it. You can buy Vista now, than later download (for free) any service pack.

You can also use a method called slipstreaming to rip your windows CD, apply the service pack and reburn it.

I think there is def a need for it lol, came preinstalled on my laptop, i like it but does need some of the bugs ironing out, speeding up a bit.

yup. just a million and two updates thats all... got fed up with bioshock going into windows mode because windows kept wanting to restart, forgot to turn off my automatic updates.
