Suggestions For My First Build?

you need a video card if you plan on using it as a gaming computer. I would get the 8600. and a SATA dvd drive is overkill- a IDE one will work just as fast.

well yeah, the dvd drive doesn't really get any performance boost from the sata connection. But the price is about the same, so you could just go with sata since it's newer technology. Cables are better etc. The difference is small, but so is the price.
 
$200 left for any better hardware...

spend at least a part of that money on cooling. A good heatsink (maybe scythe infinity?) and a tube of arctic silver 5 (need to put this between the cpu and heatsink) would sound good. The total cost for those 2 should be around $60.

You might also want to get some better fans, though the ones that come with the case will be fine too.
