apparently, a game im attempting to run requires Nvidia or dx10 or 9. i found out that nvidia drives can be downloaded and installed, but it will wipe my intel graphics drive. will this mess up my computer? and if you need to know:
HP Pavillion dv2500

u cant play games if u have integrated graphics
u have no graphics card from nvidia

A good one will cost you about $150 dollars. First of all check if your computer has a pci express x16 slot. They look like this.

wait, i have a laptop, am i screwed!?
(by the way i found my graphics thing is :Mobile intel 965 express chipset family)

Sorry to say, but yea, you're screwed. You cannot replace the graphics chips in most laptops, so you're stuck with what you have.

It is theoretically possible to upgrade your laptop, but it would require a professional and a LOT of money. The pro would have to open up a new laptop with an nvidia chipset, and then open yours and switch them. This is because new chips are not sold separately. Though this is rather risky...

Its also very difficult to do so.

since the insides of laptops were not meant to be modified, they are very risky to toy with.
