hi is there any way to convert my external hdd from fat32 to ntfs without deleting everything on it ? thanks

There is the convert command in command prompt, but I'm not sure if that will delete everything or not.

Dang, well is your just convering it to another hd then it shouldnt be a problem but why would you jjust use both.

no the info is on my external hdd and i want to convert the file system from fat32 to ntfs because you cant have a file bigger than 4gb with fat32 is there anyway to do it without losing all stuff

Is it possible for you to back up everything from the drive onto a seperate drive, just incase the convert destroys the data?

I'm pretty sure there isn't a way. You are deleting the whole filesystem, therefore all of the files will be deleted. And on top of that you are installing a new filesystem, re-writing it on top of the old files.

So no, I don't think there is a way. Just put the stuff somewhere, go to a friends house and put it on his hdd or something.

how about this
just make a new partion and format it in nfts
as save w/e is above 4 g on that
