I have an old-ish sony vaio laptop hanging around at my house. It has a Pentium III 850mhz processor, 30gb hdd, Intel 82815 integrated graphics, dvdrom/cdrw, 320mb ram. If I upgraded the ram to 512 would there be a chance of it running vista basic. The reason why is because I have ultimate on my pc and much prefer it to xp.

Maybe. You would deffinatly need the RAM upgrade first. I don't know if the graphics would be supported. If it does run, it would be extremely slow. I wouldn't recommend the upgrade to vista on that.

I dont think vista would run smoothly with anything less than 1GB. With a computer you are explaining, I think it would be much more gaining for you if you sold your old laptop, and just get a new one WITH vista :)

It originally came with 2000 but I upgraded it to xp after upgrading the ram from 128 to 320. XP does work nicely and I don't often use laptops so I was going to keep it anyway. Thanks everyone for the help.
