I Need Help With RAM

I have a basic CPU i'm using at university and have become interested in increasing the RAM on it, but after running www.crucial.com, it has told me i have a MAXIMUM RAM CAPACITY of 512mb. I'm wondering now is it at all possible for me to increase this maximum capacity, what kind of hardware would i require to help increase the amount of RAM CAPACITY i can have. Any suggestions would be great.

Wow this must be a old computer for it to only hold that amount, I think the only way to increase more ram is get a new motherboard mate unless someone else tells you different. what OS are you running?

hmmm looks like u would need a whole new Motherboard that supports more ram
and by BASIC CPU do u mean the standerd Dual core or do u mean like a P2 P3 or P4 and such
