  • Must support Directx 10
  • Preferably an eVGA, XFX, MSI, or ASUS
  • And preferably bought off Newegg, or tigerdirect.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS...

Your only point of interest would be the 8600GTS in that case, but its not tested in Direct X 10 that much of course, but... it struggles in new Direct X 9 games at high settings.

That said, it is under £125, and supports what you need.

You won't get better than that, for that price.

For example, this?:

Cheaper
XFX:

ASUS:

There is an XFX further down also:

But, it just seems to have a bigger overclock, and a free Direct X 10 game, but only 1 doller more than the ASUS

Heres the full list from a search anyhow :)

They are very underpowered though from what I've read.

8800GTS

An extra $20 over your budget will get you a much faster 8800GTS 320MB, which will run all Direct X 9 games at full settings, and has hope for a good Direct X 10 future also. It doesn't have 640MB like its bigger GTS brother, but can still handle games excellently:

The 8600GTS will keep up with the 8800GTS until resolutions are cranked up. If you are at 1024x768 you will be fine. If you can, I would spring the extra $30 for a 8800GTS 320MB card.

Ok I'm thinking that I will go with the 8800GTS... But my question is, how many months/years before I have to replace it?

I reckon off hand you'll get a good couple years out of it, before it starts showing its age all too much.

What resolution you run games at?

the 8800GTS blows the 8600GTS out of the water by 40+FPS on most games

just while were on the subject of directx 10 graphics cards (dont mean to high jack your thread) but does any know when the 2900xtx is coming out, if at all? also will the 8800gtx be replaced by a 8900 any time soon? im planning on buying somehting like an 8800gtx just before crysis comes out
