My build will have a Seagate Barracuda. I've heard their very good performance wise, and rather quiet too.

personally, I like Hitachi. Very very fast drives. Then come Seagate for the warranty and the quick drives. And the WD for very fast drives too.

No experience with Hitachi or Samsung..
but I find that both Seagate and Western Digital are excellent choices.

Worst hard drives ever, Maxtor Slims. My work sold them in a lot of computers about a 2 years ago I think, and they are all coming back now with dead hard drives.

On Microdirect, I found a 500GB Seagate Baracuda 8mb SATA 2 drive, for 6 quid more than a 320GB!!! What?!

I had a Western Digital Caviar, but it crapped out on me after about 6 months. I got a Seagate Barracuda, and it's been awesome so far. Then again, I now have a Raptor, and it's great.
