performance in game issue

when playing BF2 my hard drive sounds likes it working hard (maybe caching) and this makes the game very jerky and continues all through the game.

It has only recently started to do this??

any ideas, on how to make it better?

you only have 512mb of ram so close any and all background programs like aim, msn, and anti virus, firewalls etc.

thast really old lol sorry havnt updated it, have now got 1gig(still not much i know), and i close all background apps anyway, it used to run a lot better than this.
