What's Accessing my Harddrive?!

Besides defrag if it's set vista will run an automatic backup. Kinda neat idea. I set mine to run right after the defrag.

there is a program called CCleaner you can download that and you can manage your start-up items. even remove some you dont need.

Didn't think about that either. It was set automatically on mine by default.

Type "defrag" with out the quotes in the search bar and press enter. It will let you know if it's on a schedule, and when it's set to run.

ha yeah I like that feature in Vista. One of the reasons why I got it, I'm one of those type of people that are very anal about there computer, like I don't have alot of stuff on it. I don't keep music on my hdd I only have like 5 icons on my desktop lol. and w. XP i used to defrag at least once a day!

Grab Hijackthis and paste the log. There's some stuff in there that really shouldn't be there. There's not 71 processes in the startup by default. That's not possible.

Here's the hijack log

EDIT: I have adjusted all the startup entries... or most of them; still couldn't get a few from the original guide in pg1. I'll restart the comp later and see if i have any problems; as well as an update to how many processes are running. THX 4 all the help so far!

EDIT2: So on a fresh boot up... it's starting with 64 processes. Still alot?
