Ok, i'm sure this is on here somewhere but it will take some time to find.. and it's not what I want it for anyways.

I'm trying to play halo and record it straight onto my computer so I realize I will need a capture card or tvtuner.. but I dont know what.

I looked on newegg and it has three. That's all I can find.

Please help? And I really don't know the difference between the expensive ones and the cheap ones.

thanks

Well, that's not what I'm saying, in reply to your first statement.
I don't necessarily want to play it though my monitors ,yet (until I get two wide screens, which will be a while). I want to play the game on my tv but I want to be able to record what i'm doing on the tv to my computer.

The X-box is connected to the tv via RCA so im thinking a tvtuner or capturecard would connect through the regular cable or svideo enabling me to record halo (what I am playing at the very moment on my TV) onto my computer instantaniously.

And I want to be able to record some of the satalite tv somtimes too, but it wont be at the same time, so im thinking tv tuner?

thanks

And I do recall hearing that hauppauge is a really good brand.

But if you look under specifications on yours it says that you will need to purchase a box to recieve anything after 2009 unless you use an analog tv.. and I plan on having a hdtv in a year in a half :p so that's a no go.. plus its 70$ and only compatible with XP. I don't like it either, but I'm going to buy a new computer sooner or later and it will probably have vista on it..

Ah I see, I miss read your post, sorry.

2009? that sucks. Didn't know that when I originally bought it. Doesn't matter to me that much though. But it does work in vista. put it in, and Vista picked up drivers for it, and there are no flaws with it playing tv in media center.

The converter box turns the analog TV signal into a digital one if I understand correctly. The FM tuner is so radio programs on your computer (Media center has one built in) can pick up your local FM radio stations and play them on your computer's speakers.

Ok, well your video card is marked for only Media Center, which I don't have. I found this one

but I have no idea if it will work, and it's only 30 dollars.

Please look under specifications and see what the "Specifications" are under Specifications..heh.. I have no idea what that means.

I'm running XP and keep in mind that I want to record satalite as well as my self playing X-Box on my Tv.

Thanks

Eh poo, I read the reviews and almost everyone says, "if you want to watch tv or play games on your computer, this is a good card. But to record you want to keep looking." So I guess this isn't the one for me. I just want one that will record.

And with TV tuners can you watch what you recorded to your computer on the tv? Like TiVo or something...

Ok, I've been looking at all of them and reading ALL the reviews and ALL the system requirements I have narrowed it down to these four. They do NOT require Media center and this is good, considering that I have XP.

I have taken under consideration the price of all the products and the maker as well and what I have come to are three hauppaugs and one leadtec (which I have never heard of but the reviews are good).

I'm leaning towards the leadtec (last link) because it sounds good and it's only $30. But I need your opinions.

Thanks!
