Yes, the 1333FSB's are the new procs. They only board I know that is good at over-clocking and supports 1333FSB is the Evga 680i board.

If you decide to go for it, just make sure you get at least the P30 version of their BIOS installed. While it has always been compatable with the 1333 FSB, that version of BIOS kicked the support in gear to eliminate problems (which were few from what I have seen).

One thing I don't want, is to overclock, and for the temperatures to be wildly high, as that would worry me, so, if i can't overclock without reaching in the 60's at load, I won't bother anyhow probably.

I can't speak on what board you should get, as I have only seen the Evga one in action. I've heard the Asus boards suffer from Voltage drops, but I don't know if that's all boards, or if that's even true.
Don't worry about heat so much. As long as the case provides good air flow, people have done a lot on stock heatsinks with the core 2s.

thats a really good build. probably just a tad bit better than mine when im finished unless my psu allows me to OC my even farther.

that 8800GTS is EXPENSIVE compared to what i bought mine for. maybe a buddy in the usa will ship it to you because i bout mine for 280$ with a 20$ rebate from newegg. after VAT yours is 190 pounds 380$!!
does everything cost that much more in the UK?

Could someone explain this stepping? I've heard it mentioned somewhere else too, but couldn't make much sense of it... Is there any way of finding out what a chip has before you buy it?

Rudster, yes, I'm afraid the UK always seems to get thrown off when it comes to prices. That said, a $100 difference doesn't seem right, as that'd mean you got the 8800GTS for £128 which is cheaper than a last generation GPU, haha.
