Hi,

My friend just bought a MAC laptop and would like to connect it to his desktop PC running on XP via LAN. Is that possible and how to pull it out?

Thanks

Yeah it's very simple, been a while since I used a mac though.

Somewhere in the finder menu at the top their is a "connect to server" button at the top. Hit this button, and under server type smb://yourfriendsdesktop

You can now connect to your friends desktop :) You may need a username and password to connect, and also his XP firewall should be turned off.

I've tried typing smb://janevski in the connect to server menu (where janevski is the name of hic PC) and I got a message that a connection couldn't be established. Previously I've turned the XP'S firewall off. What I am wondering is what does smb stand for? Should I type in MAC's name here? Is there something else that I need to do? Thanks

Try typing "smb://hisipaddress". SMB stand's for Samba, as in the way windows share's files... I think :D
