Is this a good first build?

The case you linked to is real nice. I have worked with a few in person. Ventilation is ok, and I wish it wasn't made out of plastic, but It is sturdy and looks cool.

There is an LED display on the front, near the bottom, it requires no additional connectors to the computer.

Personally, I would stay away from the striker you linked to and get the EVGA board Thelis recommended. From personal experience I can tell you the striker is very picky about the ram that goes in it. If it is not on the approved list, it will cause problems. The evga board is stable, and reliable. It has been able to take everything I've thrown at it (which isn't as much as some of the other members).

Kinda off topic, but can I ask you to watch the double posting. If you could use the multi-quote feature or the edit button next time that would be much appreciated.

Celegorm, did you mean the case I posted to or the case that the OP posted to? Just to clear up any confusion.

Well, what else do you need? If you ever have any questions, you can AIM me at Thelis321.

If you want a different opinion, I'll throw a curve at you. You say around $800-$1,000?

First of all, DAMNIT NEWEGG!!!!!! Theyr'e always messing with the interface. Now I have to get use to navigating their new site.

I'm actually quite proud of this setup. Ths motherboard is an excellent overclocker should you ever want to try. It has potential for faster RAM and CPU. I just chose the cheaper CPU and RAM so if can be within your budget, hopefully. I didn't add them up but you can see if you like or not. I wouldn't mind getting this for myself, lol. In fact, I have this on my wish list on Newegg:

Sorry it took so long for me to post it on here. I really like the case too. That Antec is all about performance. This setup may be a little high end, lol, but I can't resist. It's within your budget though so that's all the better.
