the only thing that lowers the CPU life is heat. with my OC on my 3600+ from 1.9 to 2.7 the temps are a chilly 15c idle and 34ish while gaming and 38c under max load
well that amd dual core is far faster than the p4 you reccomended . and even if you dont utilise all of its power now i am sure as time passes you will use even more and more till you want something more powerfull
o right well nothing intel dual core fo that money . This is the one area amd is making a real killing . Budget dual core for home users .Get dual core you wont look back every .
the pentium D is dual core and would beat the solo core regardless of the speeds cos that means that both core are at 2.8ghz but you cant add it up and get 5.6 cos it don t work like that
depends on what FSB your motherboard supports. if it supports 1066 then yes you could put ANY cpu in expect the new 1333 FSB ones. but i dont think you could afford a C2D anyways
