My amiga project

Well most of you guys probably wont even know what one is so take a look here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga

I bought one of these the other week and have been working on it as a little project. So far its got an accelerator with a 68040 chip in it, and a whopping 32MB RAM (these machines only ship with 2MB lol)

Ive also fitted a 2GB CF card that will act as an internal HDD with workbench 3.9 OS installed. Ive also got an external CF card connected by PCMCIA for game transfers direct to the HDD.

The kickstart chips have been upgraded aswell to 3.1

The accelerator isnt connected at the moment coz im still working on it.

Im getting most of my stuff from ebay, there are a few specialist places tho like www.amigakit.com.

Just to let you know, if you do too much RW on that flash card it's going to die. It's not a hard drive.

CF cards can have a bit/byte block re-written (depening on manufacturers geometry) atleast 1million times (sandisk claim!) this means you could low level format (write '0's ) 10 times a day for 300 years and still have plently of times left over. *(generaly branded cards make this claim). some OS's constantly write and re-write to the ide device (wondoze for 1) and this can reduce life expectancy. Workbench on the amiga doesnt do this so there are no problems like your suggesting.

What are you going to use it for?

Mainly gaming, but just fancied doing a little project with it, so i will probably find other uses aswell.

Most definately. Obviously the games didnt have amazing graphics back then, but the gameplay was something else.

HA i just thought , finaly someone i can say ha my computer makes yours look like a gameboy . so here goes raffaz , my computer makes that look like a gameboy lol .
