I have a block right now. I forgot how to convert a fraction to just a number.

( How do you get 3/4 )
( 2 and 1/2 )

converted to just numbers ?

Also can you tell me how you did it. Thanks !

0.75
2.5

3/4 is a quarter of one. one quarter is 0.25, therefore three quarters is 0.75
2 and 1/2 is easy, 1/2 of 1 is 0.5, therefore 2.5

If by "just numbers" you mean decimals then yes, 3/4 is .75... 2 1/2 is 2.5.

Edit: Reworded.

That is not that difficult with a little bit of studying... However as boring as it seems, it is a must to master those sorts of things if you want to do something more interesting, like this:

x = {q + [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + {q - [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + p
where
p = -b/(3a), q = p3 + (bc-3ad)/(6a2), r = c/(3a)

AND:

Sample standard deviation for a frequency distribution:

How do you know this !!!!!!11111

But yeah Thanks a bunch !!! :D

well with fractions . 4/4 is the same as 1 so if you divide 1 by 4 you get 0.25 and the times that by the number on the top or to the left which in this case was 3 so 3X0.25=0.75.
This is second grade stuff... When you get to my level of math you are dealing with this:

x = {q + [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + {q - [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + p
where
p = -b/(3a), q = p3 + (bc-3ad)/(6a2), r = c/(3a)

AND:

Sample standard deviation for a frequency distribution:

That realy isnt helpfull or necesery , people have different levels of inteligence and different subjects they are good at . I am not very good at maths tbh but hey at least i tried to help the dude not just belittle him then brag about what you can do

Ok, sorry about that muz.

I apologize, so I am going to help out.

Try this out. Take the fraction that you want to make a decimal, ie, 3/4.
Multiply it by a 100, so you get:
300/4
Then just divide 300 by 4, so you get 75. Then divide by 100 since you multiplied by it earlier, and voila, you get .75.

With 2 1/2, think of it first as 2 wholes, so 2, then 1/2, do the same process, and get .5. Add .5 to 2 and you get 2.5.

Those are useful tricks.

You just reminded me why I hate math.

Nah its ok nobody is perfect . not even mods lol

but yeah thats the method my maths teacher taght me waay back and it is a good method and is kind of easy to work with whole numbers like 300's and 75's rather than than decimals

oi! worship the mods.. thou shalt be banned ;)

or not.. im nice really ;)

diffensials and integrals (apart from being impossible to spell) are a nightmare.. i spent most of this year doing them, lol, and im still useless.. most of the maths i use is electronics based.. like working out power consumption, current through components etc.. all good fun :)
