Hey all, I'm in the market of buying a new motherboard but I'm not quite sure what to get. I mainly use my PC for school (IT, just started), internet, some music, and SOME gaming. Any ideas? I've had ideas floated to me, but I just wanted some of your opinions. Thanks!

why do you even need a new motherboard. it wont improve performance much

Well that's kind of why I was asking. My biggest thing, is that my PC is primarily a Gateway...so if I wanted more RAM, I'd have to buy it through them if I'm even able to do that. So as far as I remember/believe I can get new RAM without ordering it from Gateway if I have a new Mobo. It's about 5 years old (mobo)...so I don't know. It was more of just a hypothetical question kind of thing.

you dont have to order RAM through gateway just because it is made by them. just use the same type and speed of ram and you should be fine

Best thing to do if your not sure about what RAM you can use is to goto www.crucial.com, there is an option to scan your system there, and that will give you options and prices etc.
