big difference from ata100 to sata 3.0gbs

It's a bit of a difference. Technically, there should be no difference if the hard drive is still only 7,200 RPM because the theoretical bandwidth of IDE is still higher than the max speed of the hard drive, but it doesn't always work that way.

No, it's because the cables don't actually reach their theoretical peak bandwidth. Similar to how you almost never get the advertised top speeds with your internet provider.

yeah i know , its like ata 133 never actualy reaches 133mb
 
that cache is probably 2mb on the old one i would guess

also sata 1.5 means up to 150mb/s right?
