My ram usage: 50%

I downloaded everest to check out how my system is running, and it turns out that I'm only using 478 MB out of 1022MB of my physical memory. I have no idea why my computer isn't using it all. Any suggestions?

Because it only uses what it needs. The more applications you have open the more ram you'll use. Its better to have free memory than to have no free memory.

the less ram being used the better. if your computer needs to use it, it will. the OS knows whats best

Open up new windows of your favorite web browser until your hard drive starts doing something, then see what it's at

The less the better.

I'm running 325mb which is about 10% of the top of my head for me .. I have 3 gigs of ram though...

Yeah thats good I have about 40 % out of 1gb... The less % the better because it means available/in use not able to use lol.
