Everyone always roots for the losers that are lagging behind a big name. People see ATi as the underdog of the GPU competition... but secretly nobody buys their cards, and everybody goes with nVidia. And ATi sounds cooler than nVidia.
I have never bought an ATI card. I have been given ATI cards. I have an ATI card right now just because my old mobo fried and a friend was nice enough to give me his old setup. I have bought a nVidia 7300 GS and was suprised at the performance.
I've had both ATI and NVIDIA. My very first video card was the 6800 NU. It was pretty nice at the time. Then I upgraded to the X1900 XT about last year.
whoever says SLI isn't as good as Crossfire is wrong. SLi may be more mature but it is far less efficient compared to Crossfire. HD 2900XT's in CF crush 8800Ultras in SLI. Here's the ORB: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=3180659
