laptop threw.....

i just got this old laptop (need it just for aim and web browsing)
and it dosnt have wireless or ether net built in
but it does have a dial up cord jack
and i have a dial up core jack in and out on my comp
can i hook my laptop up into that for internet threw my comp
witch is connected by Ethernet to online
(just temporarily until i get a wireless card for the laptop)

no because you cannot bridge a modem. besides the bandwith of a phone cord isnt very high

highly doubt it. dial up modems were not ment to be part of a network. the only use of old network cards were to network the pcs to the several machines with a permanant dial up connection. making a very slow but always on internet like DSL or Cable for bussniess.
