Go Ahead and Brag about ur computers here

I'm working on making my room a computer workshop. My room is about 450 sq. feet so I've got plenty of space :) now to get some computers and I'm all set!

I do have two broken computers I never use:
Dell optiplex GXa
333MHZ PII
128MB RAM
10GB HDD
NO OS
I'm still trying to fix this one but no luck- always comes up "keyboard data line error" or something like that, even though the keyboard works fine on this computer. This makes it impossible to install an OS.

Emachines W2260
AMD Athlon XP2200+ processor
60GB HDD w/windows XP Home
768MB RAM
NVIDIA MX 4000 video card (assumably broken since when I tried another PSU, no video came on the screen when I tried two different monitors)
NO PSU (broken)

That's a good way to start. Now ask people you know if they've got any old computer stuff lying around that you can have. You'll start out with older stuff, but it will gradually get newer. That's how I started. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a car full of good stuff that's fairly new. I picked up a trunk and backseat full of stuff for only $50 not long ago. One of the towers I got was the ASUS system on one of my previous posts.

Antec 900 (currently using a Silverstone TJ06, Antec being modded)
Enermax Noisetaker 600 watt
Asus Commando
Core 2 Duo E6300@3430 Mhz cooled by Zalman 9700
Corsair XMS2 2x1 GB 5-5-5-15
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB 655/950
Seagate 250GB 7200.10
2x Maxtor 200GB 7200 RPM

Edit: It's a mess, I know. But this case it temporary, it will all go back in my 900 when it's done being dremeled and possibly painted.

I got one of my LCDs as a christmas present two years ago, the other one I got last year with some christmas money I got. I also got it on sale, I don't like to pay more than I have to.
As for a mobo frying out, I'd be so mad! I was mad enough when my CD drive gave out, if I had a fried mobo I'd be beyond mad.

This is what you have to do:

Go up to your parents and say the following sentence.

"Mom/Dad, I have recently acquired a new hobby that exercises both my mental capacity and patience. It is a worthwhile cause, and the skills that I will learn from this particular hobby will always be appreciated by other people and myself. However, I need funding for this nurturing activity. Would you like to lend me a certain of money if I can offer you a good collateral?"

The answer is yes, it always works for my friends.

Then you say: "Well, this collateral is reachable only with additional funding."

They will give you some money, build a rig, give it to them. Then they will see that it is in their interest to give you money.

... or you can just find a job repairing stuff or something, which is what I do.
