hi sorry about that, urm....ive got ddr2 ram -2gb, 750gb (500gb and 250gb), geforce 6200 graphics card, and 3.2ghz p4 processor. i meant a motherboard that will take an intel processor. the make of the motherboard can be any as far as im concerned. im looking to spend around max £300. i want some quad core features on the motherboard. any models can you name some please?

well is your p4 socket 775 ?

another thing i need to know the speed of your RAM i know you said its DDR2 but what speed ? and also what kinda connection is that graphics card ?

PCIE or AGP ?

but if you want a cheap board thats fairly upgradable and assuming your existing processor is socket 775 then this 1 will work fine http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...9kdWN0X3NwZWNpZmljYXRpb25z&product_uid=119045

if your lookin to spend a bit more then have a look at some of these

but the first 1 will handle a C2Q and 4 GB RAM so should be enough for atleast 4 years or so or even hold off till DDR3 is in mainstream and the prices drop

well any of the above boards should do the job and every1 will handle quad cores.

the prob aint your motherboard.

motherboards dont really contribute to computer performance all they do is hanlde the parts u put in them

the motherboard u have is not the problem its prob the old P4 doin the slow down u could prob do wiv upgrading you processor to a C2D and the RAM is a little slow u could do wiv 2GB of 800Mhz but not sure if its worth replacing the old 2GB for the little increase ?

as it is at the mo the processor prob cant use all the RAM so def a CPU upgrade but in general how clean is your comp ?

what anti virus u got on it ? wot anti spyware u got ? anti adware ?
