Hard Drive Failure?? :(

At random times when I'm using my laptop today I noticed a squeaking, scraping noise coming from the part of my laptop where the hard drive is contained. Also, whenever I put my arm on the laptop and apply a little pressure I hear the squeak / scrap thing... is this the case a little loose or something or is it hard drive failure? My laptop is only a few months old but has been constant problems since I got it.

well the hdd manufacturer should have a tool to test the hdd with, so give that a try.

Yup, definitely sounds like the HDD is going bad. Since it's new, have it replaced under warranty.

There could also be a fan of some sort in there, causing the noise. But run a HDD diagnostic test.

Download, burn to CD, boot from the CD and do the tests.

Another problem is my CD/DVD drive doesn't really work. It gives me a BSOD whenever I insert anything.
