Disk read error

Hi, I have three HDDs one with 200Gb one with 250GB ( both WD) and one Maxtor with 40GB. Unfortunately the one where XP is installed (the 200GB) started acting weirdly lately and now when I try to boot the OS I get disk read error and the OS wouldn't boot. Sometimes it would even boot but for a very short time and then the OS would freeze. I went out and bought an external 250GB HDD so as to try and migrate the files from that drive and my question is will I be able to do that by connecting the broken drive to another PC? Also what do I do next with that drive as it's still under warranty, do I ask for a replacement or just reformat it? Thanks, Ljupco

Goto your HDD manufacturers website and download and run their diagnostic software on the drives.
