Virgin suck

Its quicker on the train, i can chill out on the train and study, its cheaper etc

if wher going that far i would get on the train , i dont drive but i know a long car journey can be tiring as a pasenger so as a drive it would be tiring all that concentrating ,
saying that last year my grandad drove manchester to barnstaple north devon which must be about 260miles in one day the whole journey took nearly 8 hours cos we took the back roads as well and then took me back 2 weeks later another 8 hours oh and they do that every single christmas and most easters and a few other times , maybe 3-4 times a year
i would have took the motorway and drove overnight cos you can get some serious speed and do some distance and moost the time if the police catch you doin like 90 at night when it is quiet as hell they dont actually care that much as long as they get the impression you are "safe" at them speeds and aren't tired or anything

but saying that he is a bus/coach driver so he is obviously used to driving long distance and they have a big car

Haha, my dad drove us to Florida, which is 1,104 miles away. It took him 24 hours, with breaks and all. He does that at least 2 times a year.

Why dont ya fly?
I have friends in Canada & twice a year mother & daughter drive down to Vegas & back, staying four nights & visiting most of the casinos along the strip, they rarely win much, but they don't care, they say the trip is well worth it & they wouldn't dream of flying, although they have plenty of money.

Ah, unlucky mate..

I have used Virgin Trains countless times, through megatrain though. I only really go to Scotland and London on the train, and to get to Scotland, via megatrain, it's like £3 return if you book it early enough.

But the times I have used Virgin Trains, they have been fantastic, sometimes late, but really good.

Unlucky though, you just got a bad day, weather wise..

Yeah mate, i understand its not their fault, and all services where in the same position. Im just annoyed at their lack of alternative transport, no buses put on etc. I expected better from a company like them.

Yeah that's fair enough, however, if they did provide a bus or something, then people could argue that they could of just ran the train, because surely the bus would of been as risky as running the train.. I'm not sure..

Not really sure about that one. Although i did get told by the information people in Newcastle that leeds station was waterlogged. Thats why the trains had to stop at York. I dont know how bad the roads where tho.
