hi,
i think i know whats wrong with my downstairs (family) comouter i just wonna double check b 4 i get my mum to buy a new hardrive
heres what it is i turn my computer on everything is fine it loads upto windows xp and then withing 10 seconds to 10 mins it apperas to turn itself off now this is y i think its the hardrive.
the screen goes blank.
the fans stop spinning
and the computer appears off but.
the keyboard 'num lock' key is still lit
but is it possible for a hardrive to fail and come back to life and fail again ??
when it dies i have to hit the power button (to completely turn it off) and then turn it back on and it will turn back on again for upto 10 mins ?
dead hardrive ? i would try mine but i only got sata and its only got IDE
the computer is a Celeron 1.7 with 512MB RAM a new hardrive will cost me £30
now aswell as do u think its my hardrive is dead i also wonna ask wot kind of computer do u think i can get for bout £150 ish coz i reckon i could talk my mum round and say its not worth fixing or something but she would not pay more than £150 for a new 1 so what u think.
just a new hardrive or might aswell get new pc ?
