ATAPI incompatible. Please help!

All of the sudden my DVD drive dissapeared in my computer. And when I reboot it is not in the boot menu or anything, the problem is listed as ATAPI incompatible, any ideas what is wrong? I hope its not my mobo thats bad!! My other CD drive is fine but not my dvd drive.

The only thing I could think of is a failing DVD drive. Have you made any recent changes in BIOS at all that could have affected that?

I tried resetting the CMOS, but the DVD drive is fairly new, samsung Lightscribe drive.

As much as we like to think new things don't fail shortly after purchase, they can. That in mind, try to test the drive in a different computer if it is possible.

Lightscibe? It would suck badly if it was new and didn't work. Is everything connected into the right ports? Because the cables can shake loose.

Any errors in device manager or event viewer?

Ok, I rebooted again, and now it shows up in my computer, its really wierd, I think its a mobo problem.
