I thought if you look under weather on BBCI manchester was under Midlands.

Also, where is stoke then because on BBCI under weather It's midlands but on BBC news it's North West tonight.

The term is "geordie", I had a pal from Newcastle in the RAF, his accent was great, when I first met him, I could hardly understand what he was saying we did patrols together at night [RAF Police], & we chatted as it was sooo boring, & I learnt quite a few phrases, "what fettle?" is how are you, "bairns" are chidren, "bullits" are boiled sweets, some older words aren't used any more, like "clarts" [mud] & "snotter clot" [handkerchief]

Facts; the geordie accent was virtually banned from TV until the 60's or 70's, & Sting, a geordie by birth had to learn to speak middle English as he entered his singing career, a shame as I think that local accents are very important!
