no sound w my new mobo?

naw the headset is good, and yes i have onboard sound lol..the mobo came with drivers for it and there are line in/out/mic ports in the back

this whole thing has me rlly rlly confused...

is onboard sound enabled in the bios? although surely that would mean the mic wouldnt work but strange things can happen
