Hello, here are my specs. Intel core 2 quad, 4x1gb corsair xms ram, 8800 gts. Should i run 64 bit or 32bit xp? what are the advantages of 64? What will my set backs using 64 be? thanks.
I am already going to have dual boot with xp and vista 64.

Also this is going to be a big gaming computer, are all games compatible with 64 bit?

Here's what I've come up with from my experience.

Adv./Disadv. to 64-bit:
+ You get to use your full 4GB of RAM, not just 3.25GB
± Not all games officially "support" XP X64, but I have gotten most that don't to work
- Bad driver support

Adv./Disadv. to 32-bit:
+ From my experience: much more stable
- You don't get to use all your RAM, only 3.25GB (which should definitely be enough)

X64 didn't seem faster to me than XP Home.
I'm sure there are some other factors, but those are the major ones I noticed.

Advantages of 64-bit XP - None

Disadvantages of 64-bit XP - Little to no driver and software support

Stick with the good ol' 32-bit XP, you'll be happier in the long run. :D

alright, thanks for the advice, instead of buying more ram to use with 64 bit and waste 130 dollars, i will just take it out of my desktop (which has same exact ram) when want full 3.25gb to feel maxxed out. I will stick with 32 bit cause i have had those bad experiences when trying 64 bit previously, of course my stats werent nearly as good.
