I want to upgrade to a dx10 system but not sure if I should wait or go ahead and take the plunge. My plan is to get a AM2 mobo, cpu and some fast ddr2ram.
Must be AMD.

Mobo:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131163
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148076
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143092
thats what I have picked out so far.

I hear rumors that AMD is launching a new series of processors sometime after xmas, but I cant seem to find any detailed info about this. Thats why Im not sure if I should wait, plus I keep reading that vista is very problematic right now and i sure dont want to go off and spend all this money and have everything run all buggy. And another thing Is that Im not sure if I will see a big performance gain from my current rig (in sig) thx.

May I ask why is this an AMD system? Right now, Intel is out-performing AMD.

If you keep that with AMD, that looks good. I love the video card.

I would go for vista. The biggest issue with it right now is driver related, and even that isn't soo much of a problem anymore.

Little off topic here, but I'm going to need you to shorten your sig/combine lines. The rules only allow for 5 lines.

Almost everyone i game with who has upgraded to vista has gotten rid of it and reinstalled XP=\

Yeah, I game a lot. I'm gaming right now actually. Don't exactly need to upgrade your OS to game right now. You should be fine waiting.

get a core 2 duo they r better!

They are better right now, but that is all subject to change. Right now with the core 2's Intel is on top of the game, but I am sure AMD will come out with something soon.

im telling u get intel core 2 duo
they got some great ass prossesors on the way
using 45 nm tec
i suggest an intel core 2 duo e6600
and a nvidia 680i motherboard

Yeah, that is what I got. The e6600 is really overcloackable, and the motherboard supports SLI for future upgrades.
