I got a new hard drive, and I got a new motherboard, processor, and ram. The new hdd is SATA and the old hdd is IDE.
I want to transfer everything from old hard drive to new hard drive first. (norton ghost?)

How would I go about putting files from the hard drive onto the new hard drive?

Could I do this?

1. Install the new hard drive on the original motherboard and everything. Maybe do norton ghost or something (never used before) and just copy old hard drive to new hardrive.
2. Go to device manager and uninstall all of the devices from the hard drive.
3. put new motherboard in and get drivers?

That way, the harddrive would already be bootable with an OS on it, so I could just install the drivers and go.

Would this be possible?

How would I do that?

Just put the new motherboard in and install new hdd. Then just put old hdd as slave?

Wouldn't the old hdd having the same copy of XP of the new hdd be a problem?
