MS denies XP SP3 for 2007

Windows XP users will have to wait until next year for Service Pack 3, despite a "mistaken" press release which suggested otherwise. Windows XP SP3, the next major roll-up of security patches and bug fixes for the still-popular operating system, was mentioned twice in a Microsoft statement posted from Interop on Monday. The release, which touted interoperable protocol efforts between Juniper Networks and Microsoft, said at one point that "Windows Vista supports this protocol today and Windows Server 2008 and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) will support it as well later this year."

i dont think so , i think they are going to force gamers to get vista ,they have to sell it one way or another and the direct x 10 will be vistas hold on gamers forcing them to buy ,

They've already stated that DX10 is Vista ONLY.

They're probably pushing SP3 for XP back because of Vista. Eh, doesn't really concern me. Just as long as Service Pack 1 for Vista brings some good things to the already pretty nice OS, I'm happy.

if they do release sp3 they should do it asap as more people are moving to vista and a lot of us may hate it but in time will probs end up upgrading. so a new service pack would be ideal now so we can make the most of it. besides its time for an update to sp2 anyway.

personally i can see ms doing a u turn now and saying no sp3 for xp , cos in a years time lots more people are gonna have vista and so they will try and justify it by doing that

I was kinda thinking that it wont be that brill specially now they launched a new OS, Their not going to give to much away as to draw attention from Vista back to XP so they will probably dangle a carrot or two. They may look at ways to block out P2P.

They can't block out P2P. Not everyone uses it for illegal purposes.

* Business: P2P network has already been used in business areas, but it is still at the beginning line. Currently, Kato et al's studies indicate over 200 companies with approximately $400 million USD are investing in P2P network. Besides File Sharing, companies are also interested in Distributing Computing, Content Distribution, e-market place, Distributed Search engines, Groupware and Office Automation via P2P network. There are several reasons why companies prefer P2P sometimes such as: Real-time collaboration, a server cannot manage with increasing volume of contents, a process requires strong computing power, a process needs high-speed communications etc. At the same time, P2P is not fully used as it still confronts a lot of security issues.

Just like the TV network, there are already cables built. It's not very likely for companies to change all the cables. Many of them turn to use internet, more specifically, P2P network. For instance, Skype, one of the most widely used phone software is using P2P technology. Furthermore, many research organizations are trying to apply P2P network on cellular network.
