It's a little more than $700 (by about $70), but i think you'll like this:

HP a6050y series

ya, nice choice, id get this if you dont want to build one, thats a lot better than the one i found, good finding celegorm :)

I have to say the only complex part in building your own PC is the actual wiring part (the wires from the case to your motherboard).
True, very true. I have just rebuilt my computer and the only wire connected is the power switch wire. all the hard drive activity lights, power lights, et cetera, i have no idea where they go. and i dont have the manual.

you know, i think anyone who knows how to install a wireless card and knows how to use it, should be perfectly capable of building their own pc. a little off topic, but just a year ago (it will be a year to date on 5/27/07 that i got my first computer) i got into computers, when i got my first computer to be exact. to this day, im still using my first computer, which when i bought ran a sempron 3300+, 512MB ram, and an 80GB hard drive. the first thing i did to it was install a wireless card. (see sig for current specs.)

the point is, i never thought i would get into computers, as when i installed that wireless card i had to read the directions and use the driver cd like a computer n00b. but today i can take apart a computer and put it back together like a puzzle. (although i cant figure out the color coding for the front bezel wires.)

so do a little research, look inside an old (but not too outdated) computer and take it apart and look at the parts, and get ready to build your new computer. im sure you'll find a new hobby.

if you do want to build one, you can get a parts list from here, someone will probably post one. if you want to buy a prebuilt one, dont buy one like dell or hp, because it has tons of crap on it, and uses alot of generic parts. although these are probably the cheapest option, its gona bug you.

It does look like a good deal! But I was thinking about trying mounting just for the fun of it. If you guys don't mind helping me find the best deal in the parts I'd need I might just do that!

No problem. Before i start helping you find the parts, i need to know if you live in teh US. The only reason i ask, is because my favorite site (newegg.com) does not ship outside the US.

Intel core 2 duo E6300 - $166

2 gb kingston ddr2 533 - $74

BFG 6600GT - $43 (after rebates) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143084

Asus p5b - $139

from what I have heard this mobo is awesome, it's a bit expensive though.

Antec case with 400W PSU - $95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129163
has a good psu (usually case+psu combos have a crappy psu)

Total: $577 + shipping

then add a dvd burner (around $30 probably), a mouse ($10) & keyboard ($10) and you still have $100 left for something I must have forgotten. :D
In case I didn't forget anything (not very likely, I'm both tired and sick) you could get a better cpu, though the E6300 should be more than good enough for your needs.

Ohh yes, and an operating system. I'm gonna be honest with you and say that just get your hands on windows xp for free. But if you wish to buy it it's probably around $150 for an OEM license.

Ohh and one more thing. That is a pretty decent computer, designed for everyday use + some light gaming. The 6600GT is an ok video card, it's nothing great but you can play most (if not all) modern games on it with low graphics. And a dedicated video card is a must if you are playing games, the integrated ones just aren't powerfull enough.

And I'm sorry if I don't make any sence or if I forgot some parts, as I said I'm both tired and sick at the moment so I'll blame those 2 things for my mistakes. :p

Thanks for the in sights mammikoura. I'll see about the pcu. I also thought about sticking with XP which I'm used to it, but I guess Vista is the future wouldn't mind getting to know it.
So I guess that link is for a dedicated video card?
If I'm gonna build it, I might as well make it nice.

I appreciate you guys help!

i don't like hitachi hard drives. I've just never had good luck with them. checkout this one by segate it's only $10 more expensive, but it looks a little faster, and IMO better quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148144

also, this Segate 320GB drive comes free with some Antec Case combos

I don't know if the case you are getting is part of the approved combos, or even what combo's are deffinate go's with that, but it's deffinatly somethign to look into.
