Frenquency? Ghz stuff lol

Ok, ive been thinking about this. Why does it matter what ghz the proccessor is now?
If you got a Celeron 3ghz, P4, Xeon, Or Athlon blah blah all running at 3ghz Its all going to turn out different speeds at the end...
The core 2 processors run at 2.6$ for like a 900$
iduno it just confuses me now...
What are the specs that we should trutly look at for a processor?

The GHz matters because its the speed. Almost like a cars horsepower. P4 Northwood, Xeon et cetera is just branding but like 4600+ is the efectiveness i think? Not sure but im pretty sure lol.

And tcracker in your sig it says 20gb harddrive? Why would you run an X2 system on such a small drive lol?

hah i was saving up for a new computer and i bought all the parts expect the hard drive bc i found a old 1 lol. I just bought another gig so i have 2 gigs of ram now. Ill buy a harddrive next for sure lol...

while they all run at 3 Ghz, they have different front-side bus speeds which affects how fast the processor can get and send data. the bigger the front-side bus, the faster it goes.
