Toshiba Laptop memory

Hi, One of my friends gave a a 256MB PC133 Toshiba PA3086U Memory to upgrade the wifes Dell Lattitude Lappy, after inserting the memory the laptop will not power up. The friend swears the memory works fine, is Toshiba memory only suitable for Toshiba Laptops or has the memory packed up. Any help would be much apprecieted

maybe you put it in the wrong way, you know there is 2 ways to putting ram in the right way and the wrong way lol and if it isn't the right ram matching your system it can cause damage

It could just be incompatible, is it installed correctly? Does the computer startup if you remove the memory again?

the computer will start up if there is atleast 1 stick of ram in there if there is no ram it won't start up so try booting it up with 1 stick of ram
