You should try a protocol like SFTP or SCP because FTP is unencrypted. It's totally terrible because passwords are sent over in clear text and can easily be picked up.
Ermm.. havent tried it, but I doubt it, I mean for a few quid a month you can have a streaming web folder if you want..

This is a screenshot of me FTP'ing into a server, and a modern packet sniffer running in the background. The packet sniffer can be ran on ANY computer in the physical network (broadcast domain), or in the path of the traffic.
I can also tell that your running Serv-U ftpd 6.4, and using port 8000 isnt offering much extra security at all
