get a cheaper case and use the money to get another gb of ram.

said it in one with that kind of cpu power u really cud do with 2Gb RAM

and can i ask y your not building a C2D ??? i think u cud build a better intel rig for same kinda money

i dunno why im not building a intel rig, iv just been so happy w/ my past amd rigs, so why change?, also thanks Raytheon for the cooling info

Alright, well then which intel would match up to the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz ? does intel have a am2 socket? all i see is LGA 775 Socket 478 Socket 604 Socket 771 and Socket M

No, they are not supposed to. The AMD is not a bad build though. Sure C2D is better, but more expensive. An e6600 is around 300 dollars.

Get the 8600GTS, 8600GT is crap. As for C2D, you don't have to get it if you're more comfortable with AMD, at this point it's just more recommended to go with Core 2 Duo since you'll be seeing more LGA775 based CPUs come out than you will see AM2 CPUs coming out since the next AMD CPU, Barcelona, will be using socket AM2+.

Where'd you see that at? At Newegg, it's only $233. Granted, it is still more expensive than the X2 5600, but I believe it's that much worth it.

As for the processor, I'd either:
1) Get an X2 3600 and overclock it. These processors have had great results, with many getting around/over 3GHz. (Cheaper - money can go to other parts)
2) Get a Core 2, E6400 or up if not OCing. (Similar price, recommended by many, they're also excellent overclockers)

And finally, I would change the power supply to a Corsair 520W Modular PSU ($80 after rebate) if your budget allows and if you can wait for the rebate. I've heard nothing but great things about it, and with 3 12V rails combined to 40A, it's easily one of the most powerful 520W PSUs out there, not to mention that it's modular. It may be a tad overkill, but it's a steal at only $13 more than the Rosewill you linked.

Just my 2¢...sorry for the huge post. :D
