Windows 2000 recovery disk

Hi.

I need to repair a windows 2000 installation. Can anyone tell me if an "emergency repair disk" will work if I made it from another machine?

Here is a quote from that article : Your Emergency Repair Disk must include current configuration information. Make sure that you have an ERD for each installation of Windows 2000 on your computer, and never use an ERD from another computer.

Whats the problem your having, it might be a simple fix if you say what it is.

Hi Raffaz.
Windows 2K refuses to start up, can't get into safe mode. It started playing up during a defrag when some clot decided to browse the net, I suppose I should have put up a sign. It gets as far as the startup screen and freezes.

Any errors, stop codes etc? Can you boot into safe mode, or try use last known good config?
