When I had a smaller hard drive I encoded almost all of my mp3's to 160kbps to save room. Is 160kbps good quality? Because I sort of feel stupid for encoding almost of my music to lower bitrates. I've always though that anything 128kbps and higher is good quality. What's your guys' take on this?

well MOST CD transfered to Windows Media player are a 192 bitrate, 160 isn't bad , my music is about 200+ but it takes a HUGE amount of sapace when you have alot of songs. It's fine to me as long as its not like 60kbps,lol ..

I try to look for 192, but if there isn't any available, then 128 minimum. It's rare to find 160, but 192 is the best. SOmetime the 200+ sound bit creates too much treble and the pitch is way too high.

I have some at 128 and 192. Some jumps from 128, to 224, to 160, to 256, to 320, etc.

128kbps minimum. Usually around 128-190kbps is good enough, because even the most experienced audiophile can hardly tell the difference really...

I never use anything less than 192, i prefer 320 tho, but ive got over a terrabyte of storage so its not an issue.:)
