Upgrading My Ram Questions

Right now I have 2x512mb DDr8 800 Ram and Im looking ot upgrade to 2gb. My choices are another set of 2x512 of the same Ram or A 1gb stick of the same Ram. If I get the 1gb stick it would leave me room to upgrade in case we ever need more than 2gb.

I would personally sell the 2 sticks you have and then get 2 new sticks of 1gb identical RAM, you tend to have less problems when using matched pairs, although some mobos will be fine either way.

yea I was thinking about that too but I was also very lazy and then id be without ram for a while. I know that would end up being the better thnig to do but I really dont wanna go through that hassle.

It depends tho, i mean your saying you dont wanna go through the hassle, but you could have even more hassle if the different types dont work together. Can you not buy the 2x1gb sticks and then sell the other 2 after you have got the computer up and running again?
