i am trying to figure out what a somewhat affordable match for an EVGA Geforce 8800 video card may be. I don't plan on overclocking or doing anything too elaborate with it as i'm still pretty much an idiot when it comes to hardware. I just need to find a motherboard/processor and compatible memory. any help...?

it ends up to be about $750. its a little pricey but good parts. its my dream computer. :D

yeah, that's about what i had it budgeted out to in my head. appreciate the response.

still need to save up some up some money for the power supply/case/dvd/other random junk.

oh, speaking of which, you want to point me in the direction of a case as well?

also, in the event that money runs a little tighter than i expected, what would the next best thing be?

sorry for being such a leech - i just have a very busy life right now and the extreme desire for a new computer.

cheaper budget would be like, 300-500, yeah. but then again, my attitude is like, "why not spend the extra 250"?

Yea you should go for the better parts and dont go cheap. I still regret getting a cheap case(VERY flimsy) and PSU(Died in 2 days).

Just keep saving and before you know it, you have all the money you need. :D
