Okay well I just finished my budget computer (and my 1st build). Heres what I got:
MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138049
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116249
RAM (2GB): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144151
Video: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130025
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152020
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817171018

Cheap but works 100% so far. Anyway, what is a good CPU temp? I got up to 45C after installing XP twice(I f'ed up the 1st time lol) and installing updates. My computer was on for about 2 1/2 hours, but it seem to stay between 40C and 45C.

for a pentium D, 45 sounds cool. everything i've heard about them heat wise has been negitive. So negitive that an intel rep made a joke durring a Retail edge thing that 200 of them could have heated the movie theater we were in.

2 things jump to mind real quick. One is how much thermal paster you used on the heatsink. The other is micro atx's are just plain a SOB to get good air flow thru. If the psu is sitting on the cpu fan then you have a problem.

the thermal paste was already on the heatsink so i dont think i could of messed that up. but i dont think the PSU fan is going to be a problem. the fan that sits right next to the CPU pushes air upward (away from the CPU). and also i have had this computer on for 3hrs and played an hour of NFS:Most Wanted and the CPU temp is 41C and the video is 55C. I think im good. i dont really trust it home alone yet lol

thats a problem. The psu is taking the air that the fan for the heatsink needs.

40-45 is fine, the only time my temps are in the 30s is when I have just turned my computer on...

yh i just built my new pc with pentium D and 2Gb RAM bla bla bla and after about and hour the temp is bout 45 ( between 40 and 50) and stays between that after bein on for over 48 hours this was also my 1st build and i was also worried but yeah its bin built for 2 weeks now and now sign of overheating or n e thing so gd luck
