I agree that some things need to be merged, but I don't necessarily agree with allt he suggestions that were made for merging.

I.e web advertising/web programming are distinctly different.

how on earth do you decide that networking questions go into the same section as instant messenger program questions?

I didn't mean to knock the suggestions, I was just agreeing with David that it's not all that easy.

however, I still think it's bordering on crazy to keep the front page so 'minimalist' at the detriment of the most used forum...

as I said, when you go into the general HW/SW forum you have to scroll through sub-forums before you even see the active threads.
