I need someone to clear this up for me. Perpendicular recording - is there actually any speed boost from it?
I know how it works, with the magnetic storage being stored perpendicular to the drive, instead of parallel. It increases storage capacity because you can fit more in by storing it perpendicular, but does this actually impact the speed??
Just wondering because I've seen a lot of people recommending perpendicular drives as being faster, but I'm not sure it actually directly impacts the speed. Since it's relatively new in hard drives, the drives that have it may be faster since they're newer though.
