freestyler's build work log

Well, it failed the extended test after 10 minutes saying too many errors found. It was actually spinning during this time. I guess I'm getting a new hard drive. Don't know if there's still a warranty, I bought it a while ago. On the WD website the warranty check says the serial number doesn't exist...if I can get a free replacement through newegg, I'll probably do that, but if I have to buy a new one, I think I'll go Seagate.

Return that thing and get a new one. Who was the manufacturer?

lol, Its Western Digital

its all through out his posts...

Anyway sorry to hear about your drive man,

I am running a seagate 7200.10 750 Gig in my PC and i am loving it.

I also like the fat 5 year warranty.

And the fact that seagates a major company in Server Harddrives and you know what that means.

i used to use Seagates a long time ago when they were 20mb hdd, they were really good, prob by far the most reliable i had, and cos we didnt have a lot of money they were picked up second hand and still worked fine. Wish id got a Seagate now for mine, but only had the Hitachi/IBM one.

Well...it's too late to return it for a refund. I can only get a replacement. I think I'll just order a new Seagate drive though...$75 is not a big deal to me out of a $2,000 budget build.

In the meantime I think I'll try installing Damn Small Linux to a flash drive. I've always wanted to try that anyway.

I finally got around to ordering a new hard drive. Too lazy to try to get WD to replace the old one, so I just got a new Seagate:

While I was at it, I ordered a couple more little things

2 cold cathodes, I didn't know what color but these blue ones were really cheap so:

10 of these fans, because of bulk discounts ordering 10 is cheaper than 4...

And a wireless adapter that's actually Vista compatible:

I ordered all the above stuff, and it's sweet so far. I haven't had time to try the fans or the wireless yet, but the hard drive is nice and the cathodes look great:

hey nice lol, I got the same case :D and the same controller for my cold cathodes the little blue bos :) cept my cathodes stopped working :( I see you removed you hdd box, I did the same before and put my hdd's in my floppy bays but it turns out it wasn't much of a difference so I switched it back and its neater now...
